Short-Term Cortical Bone Ingrowth Sheep Study

After being conducted over a 12-week time period with porous cylindrical implants (6 mm x 25 mm), this temporal study displayed RAPID BONE INGROWTH within 2 WEEKS, and FULL THROUGH-GROWTH at 6 WEEKS.

Demonstrated an intimate bone-to-implant interface. New bone formed directly on the surface of the material and into the pores.

Demonstrated an increase in new bone integration into the porous structures of the implants compared to the 2-week time point.

Demonstrated complete new bone integration throughout the entire porous structure of the implants. Bone ingrowth from one cortex to the other in medial and lateral sites was noted.

Comprehensive bone ingrowth and intimate boney contact throughout the pores in both medial and lateral sites. Interestingly, new bone was seen growing up the implants into the medullary canal.

As noted at 8 weeks, there were areas of osseointegration into the pores of the implant within the medullary canal. Bone appeared to walk through all implants. This supports the impressive osteoconductive properties of Phusion Metal®.

Lumbar Interbody Fusion Sheep Study

At 4 months, this study demonstrates substantial BONE GROWTH THROUGHOUT THE PORES. Phusion Metal® implants facilitated SUPERIOR BIOMECHANICAL STABILITY and BONE-TO-IMPLANT CONTACT verses PEEK.
